Tuesday, November 30, 2021 Feast of St. Andrew Matthew 4:18-22
My GPS.
If only we had a road map like we do when we get in the car today. We put an address in our GPS and bingo, we are on our way. There are even places to eat and get gas. What a deal. Who wants to go back a few decades and get out the big, fold-out map we get at gas stations. It’s too much hassle.
Well, think of the hassle we find ourselves in on any given day. It’s all those unexpected things that come up we didn’t have in our calendar. So, what is our response? It is easy to find these “interruptions” frustrating, distracting us from what we need to do.
There’s another option. Drop this net and welcome the unexpected. Jesus is calling us to follow Him with Andrew the Apostle whom we remember today. Andrew and the others with him didn’t know where they were going when they left their boat. It didn’t matter. All that mattered was Who they were with. Jesus knew then and He knows now where He is calling us, better than any GPS. Follow Him in the unexpected. But don’t forget to drop your nets. Can you name those nets?
