IGNITE THE FIRE IN EACH OTHER

The first number of months of the pandemic turned our lives around. We made so many adjustments. Those first number of months brought a tremendous blessing to our parish staff. We became a family who loved and cared for each other. This sense of community was born out of gathering with Jesus around His altar of sacrifice every morning. After Mass each morning, we assessed the situation and made the appropriate changes. How can we best serve the people of Blessed Sacrament? It reminds me of the time the apostles spent with Jesus while He made them disciples.

Morning, noon, and night, the disciples became a family, God’s family. The point came for them to reach out to people the Lord wanted to meet and welcome the Church into His family. He gave them authority over all the obstacles, demons, and illnesses that would distract people from meeting Jesus in these men.

Here is the key to evangelization: It’s people, not programs or walking sticks or food or an extra tunic that Jesus works. Those are only aids or tools for the work we do. People are the Presence of Jesus in the world. Jesus sent the disciples out two by two, “Whenever two or more of you gather in My Name, I am with you.” 

I invite you to share something you carry in your heart with a trusted friend. Pray with them, sharing with Jesus and your friend your thoughts and feelings. Amazing things happen when we share our lives in a community and welcome Jesus to be with us. Friendship reaches a new peak that is not of this world. Peace be with you,
