“Let us begin this celebration by calling to mind our sins and ask God for His mercy.” It is incredible to think how many times a day God offers His people mercy throughout the world. Every celebration of the Eucharist begins with getting right with God and each other. It declares how important it is for us to forgive one another before sin has a chance to grip its claws into our souls and relationships.
Also, consider how many times in every Mass throughout the world that these words are prayed over the wine during the Consecration, “This is the chalice of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and many FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.” When someone repeats something, we know they are making a point. When Someone repeats something millions of times a day throughout the world, we better pay attention.
My friends, if there is anyone you cannot or will not forgive, repent, turn around and face your opponent, but do it through Jesus. See Him before you see the person or people you can’t stomach. Jesus is all-powerful and is ready to make peace in your heart and mind. But Jesus is helpless as a baby if we close our hearts to someone. He can do nothing for us.
This is my Blood, poured out for you, for the forgiveness of your sins.
