Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary 2022
Luke 1:18-23 https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/090822.cfm
This feast of the birth of our dear Mother Mary is one of the oldest feasts of Mary, dating back to the 2nd century. A hymn is devoted to her entitled “Mary, the Dawn,” which speaks wonderfully of her relationship with her Son, Jesus: “Mary for Dawn, Christ the Perfect Day.”
That beautiful Light that dawned in Mother Mary came to its fullness in Jesus. Mother Mary lived in that fullness of grace from the very moment of her conception. God gives us a gift of hope in Mother Mary. She was born to give us Jesus. And she continues to do this for all of her children. We can’t begin to comprehend the number of people she has touched down through the centuries, including ourselves.
With Mother Mary’s intercession, may we live in that fullness of her Son so much that our love for Jesus will spill over into the hearts and minds of all we encounter.
With pure intentions, let us pray together. Remember, almost gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you, I stand sinful and sorrowful. Oh, Mother of the Word Incarnate! Despise not my petitions, but hear and answer me in your mercy. Amen.
