When Peter began walking on the water, only faith in Jesus kept him from sinking, nothing else. The height of the waves bashing against us and the strength of the wind we battle make no difference to Jesus and us. We can do anything with Him. Without Jesus, we can’t walk a step in His Way to Life.
Living in His Way of Life is exciting because God presents us with impossible things we cannot do ourselves. We must keep our eyes on Jesus. There are no distractions in His eyes. He will never fail us. Then the impossible becomes real for us and everyone else.
Let us not fear obstacles and difficulties that arise in our days. Be a friend of Jesus when you wake up until you go to bed. Share everything with Him. And when we encounter anything challenging, even if it seems to crush us, we rejoice because we are about to experience miracles.
How do we keep our eyes on Jesus? Do not put our trust in anything but Jesus. And should we fail like Peter, Jesus will never leave us. When we stay close to Jesus in prayer and the Sacraments, we will not leave Him.
Gospel Challenge:
When Jesus invites you to walk on water with him, recall this psalm, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1.)
