How truly heartwarming it is to belong to the family of Jesus, which we call the Church. The life and love he wanted to share with the world were too big to be passed down through a human bloodline. That would be too limiting. So Jesus found another way. From his own experience, Jesus knew how close he drew to his Father when he did whatever his Father asked.
He also understood from his experience that doing his Father’s will was more than simply obeying him. The word obedience is quite meaningful, derived from the Latin “oboedire,” meaning “to listen.” When someone chooses to listen willingly, it shows they find that person important and trustworthy.
In every situation and with everyone Jesus met, He listened to His Father and did what pleased Him most. Why? Because He loved His Father deeply. Just like when we try to make those we love happy, which brings us so much joy, Jesus found great delight in pleasing His Father. It’s a beautiful reminder of how love guides our actions and brings us happiness.
Likewise, we do not obey as servants to a master but listen as children of a loving Father. Jesus shares everything He has learned from His Father with us.
Gospel Challenge:
Let’s joyfully listen to His Word and kindly ask for the grace to do His Father’s will. And why? Because we love Him very much and do whatever makes Him happy.
Let’s come together in prayer for all baptized Catholics, asking for their faithfulness to Jesus during Holy Mass every weekend. Hail Mary, full of grace…
