One day, my sister Bev and I were walking. She had a bag in her hand with an envelope, a piece of paper, and her billfold. She stuck her hand in the bag, and the billfold was gone. We emptied the bag—No billfold. We held hands. Prayed, “St. Anthony, something is lost that can’t be found. Help us look all around. We took five steps. She put her hand in the bag and pulled out her billfold.
An alarm goes off inside us if we lose our billfold or keys. It can be anything small. I have noticed that when I lose something and pray to Saint Anthony, sometimes I can go back to the same place I looked before, and it’s there. What about asking St. Anthony to help us find something more important than a billfold. Saint Anthony can help us find the love we have in our hearts for a family member or friend who has become an enemy due to some hurt.
Underneath all that pain and suffering is Our Lord’s mercy and love for our enemies, which Jesus is ready to pour into their hearts. But He can do it only through us. First, we must repent for any anger and hatred for someone. It’s taking up so much room in our thoughts and emotions. Jesus can’t get through. “Help us to be sorry, Lord. Somewhere we want to, but it’s so hard. We give up too easily. We are so poor in spirit that we know you will help us.”
Gospel Challenge:
“St. Anthony, someone’s lost that can’t be found. Help us look all around. Oh, Jesus, I surrender myself to You. Take care of everything.” Close your eyes and let it all go to Jesus. He is very capable of reconciling the worst enemies. He started His mercy campaign on the cross, “Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.” Let’s continue His campaign.
