I am often called to a house for an anointing of the sick and dying. GPS is the greatest, as long as I put in the correct address. However, before GPS, finding that house could be difficult. When I got lost, I would ask someone for directions. Sometimes, if the person were driving, they would say, “Follow me.” Was that ever comforting. I didn’t have to slow down to read the street signs. That was a pain to the people behind me.
I thanked God for the person who stopped what they were doing and showed me the way. They drove me right to the house. And today, I thank God for the person who invented GPS and made it available, even on our cellphones.
“Follow Me.” I can see Jesus in His Jeep coming up to me in life and saying, “Hey friend, you look like you are lost. Need some direction to where you are going?” I respond, “Well, that’s funny; I don’t know where I am going. But I do know I want out of this mess. You could say that I am lost.”
Sometimes we get lost in life. The neat thing about Jesus is that He has the one and only GPS in the universe for LIFE. He knows where we are going because He has already been there. So he can get us there too. Traditionally we call it eternal life. Yes, life after we die, but also the life of Jesus in us today.
I don’t have to see the house I am driving to before getting there. And when I follow Jesus, I can sit back and let Him take the lead. The road He is on is called “Peace.” I know I am following Him when my heart is at peace. Should I get lost again, Jesus said in the Gospel, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.” So pray, my friend, ‘O Jesus, I surrender my life to you (following Jesus), take care of everything.’

BEFORE GPS – HOW DO IT GET TO…

It’s a big trust, but Jesus is faithful.
