None of the people in Jesus’ genealogy were conscious every minute that the little things they did every day would play a part in bringing the Savior into the world. But it’s true. God is born into the world in Christ Jesus through little things people do in love for him.
Like us, they probably never thought that being faithful to God in little things every day could change the world. We don’t have to wait for forty-two generations for a Savior to be born. How blessed we are!
He truly is present in a few words as water is poured on a child’s head, and the words of absolution are prayed over a repentant. The substance of bread and wine is changed into his Body and Blood. And no less, because of these, he is truly present in the cup of cold water given to quench a thirst.
