Who is Your Mentor?
When I began my studies for the priesthood in England, I met a priest who knew Jesus. Fr. Anthony Meredith had a profound impact on my relationship with God. Recognizing mentors like him helps us feel appreciated and supported in our faith journey.
Fr. Anthony showed me how to follow Jesus, and reading this morning’s Gospel made me think of him. When it says, “Jesus summoned those He wanted, and they came to Him,” it’s not just a physical call but a heartfelt invitation from the Holy Spirit. It’s a gentle nudge from within, inspiring us to draw nearer to Jesus. Pay attention to subtle signs or feelings that may be the Holy Spirit guiding you-these are God’s genle invitations to deepen your faith.
During my early years of studying and deepening my faith, I felt the Lord guiding me to turn toward Jesus. Each morning, I find comfort by visiting Him in the Blessed Sacrament during adoration, and I love sharing His Holy Word with you now.
Gospel Challenge:
Do you have someone in your life who is guiding you closer to Jesus? Sometimes, you might not realize this call right away, but remember, the Lord will keep beckoning you. If you notice yourself repeatedly being drawn to someone—maybe reaching out to a friend or getting involved in a ministry—think of it as a gentle nudge from God.
Your heart’s drawn to certain people and opportunities for a reason, and God’s inviting you to lean into those moments with an open and trusting heart, helping you feel more confident in His guidance.
The Lord touches our hearts because He knows how much we will enjoy His “new” way of being with us. As Jesus summoned the Apostles, He wants you and me to be with Him, too.
