Growing up, I watched a slapstick comedy called The Three Stooges. A typical phrase Moe used was ‘knucklehead’ whenever one of them did something foolish. It implied, ‘You just don’t get it, do you?’
I’m sure Jesus never called His disciples “a knucklehead.” This was His third time Jesus revealed Himself to them, yet they still didn’t get it. One thing it tells us is that the resurrection of the dead is far beyond our understanding.
Even after Jesus’s resurrection twice, Peter still reverts to his old habit of saying, “I’m going fishing.” However, Jesus patiently persists in guiding us, calmly waiting on the shore, cooking fish. Only John recognizes Him. This patience and steadfast love highlight Jesus’ unwavering dedication to us.
Gospel Challenge:
Recognize Jesus in the everyday acts of kindness around you, whether it’s a forgiving friend or a kind gesture, so His love is always evident.
Or, it could be anyone who does even the smallest thing to make me feel valued, reminding us that Jesus reveals Himself through simple acts that welcome His Presence in all we say and do.
Let’s find inspiration to see Jesus in every act of kindness, no matter how minor, and deepen our spiritual awareness to share His love more fully.
The resurrection of Jesus comes to us in many different ways.
