Sharing My Heart with Jesus.

Who are your closest friends? We exchange ideas with acquaintances, but our best friends truly hold our hearts. Jesus couldn’t connect with people who only felt at ease sharing ideas.

You can hear the frustration in the people in today’s gospel who said to Jesus, “Tell us plainly if you are the Messiah.” He said he had already told them, but they would not listen.

Jesus desires to hold our hearts and carry everything that happens to us. Blessed Antonio Rosmini stated, “God has given all that He is; do we want to give Him only part of ourselves? Be generous with the Lord, and do not be afraid of giving Him too much.” (Letters EC 4:699)

Jesus taught people plainly and worked miracles, but true faith and trust come from the heart. When we shift from exchanging ideas to sharing our deepest selves, we feel more connected. Trusting Jesus like we trust our friends helps us grow closer and feel valued in our relationship with Him.

Our Lord desires us to be His sheep, trusting Him with everything we cherish in our hearts. When we open wide the door of our hearts to Christ, we experience His mercy and peace. Surrendering to Jesus brings a deep sense of calm and reassurance that He cares for us completely.

It’s truly beautiful to get to know the Good Shepherd, whose love and guidance can fill our hearts with hope and comfort. Reflecting on His care invites us to deepen our trust and experience His presence more fully.

Gospel Challenge: “How comforting it is to have no life of one’s own, but to live the life of Jesus, whose pure light and perfect joy will never know corruption! (Blessed Antonio Rosmini, Letters 2:415).

What will we surrender to Jesus today, knowing that His peace will fill our hearts?
