Who Do You See?

It’s easy to picture Peter carrying his fish from the boat to the tax collector’s booth, and
to see how others despised Matthew. Yet, Jesus approaches both with love, reminding
us that His call extends beyond our judgments to embrace everyone, even those we
overlook.

And now, what is this? Jesus approaches Matthew and calls him to be his follower, just
like he did Peter. Then Jesus sits down with him for a meal in Matthew’s house. Let this
remind us to live more like Jesus, Who looks past behavior and sees others at their
best, inspiring us to grow spiritually and emulate His compassion.

He says, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to
call the righteous but sinners.” Reflect on how often you can see the person you are
with at their best, and be inspired to see everyone with love, just as Jesus does.

The Gospel Challenge:
Who is my Matthew, the one I must approach with the heart of Jesus? Discover what is
best in your Matthew when the Lord reveals that person to you in prayer.

Love Your Neighbor!
