The Lord Jesus is truly remarkable, constantly filling my heart with wonder. The transformative power of prayer is evident in my life, especially before I face challenging situations. Whether it’s comforting the sick, bearing a heavy burden, or seeking forgiveness, the difference is palpable when I invite the Lord’s presence through prayer.
More than just saying prayers, I welcome the presence of the Lord to be with me. It can take anywhere from several minutes to just a few seconds. I might be sitting in the chapel or driving my car, knowing Jesus is with me.
When I neglect my time with the Lord, my mind wanders, and I can feel the anxiety creeping in. But when I pray first, I feel a sense of calm and focus. It’s no longer about me, but about others, and I can empathize with them more easily.
Jesus prayed the whole night before he chose his 12 disciples. Why did he have to pray? After all, Jesus is God. He is setting an example for us, showing us how important it was for Him to be with His Father when He chose His disciples.
Gospel Challenge: Is there something important you need to do? It could be a difficult conversation, a challenging project, or a decision that weighs heavily on your mind. Go to the presence of the Lord in your heart. Don’t use words or even thoughts. The intention and choice to be with Jesus are enough.
When thoughts arise, let them pass. Focusing on Jesus in prayer will help you concentrate more easily on someone or a task. Leave the worries to Jesus and His Divine Providence. Be fully present with the person He entrusts to your care.
