“We played the flute for you. We sang a dirge for you.”
Who is playing and singing about our lives? Reflecting on this, I realize how much God is involved in our daily lives and how His presence is expressed through our experiences.
Who is playing and singing about our lives? As the years go by, I am learning how much God is involved in our daily lives. The pronoun “We” caught my attention in today’s Gospel. Could God send angels and saints when something good happens to us? Some we may meet every day. And when something terrible happens, could he send even more angels and saints our way? Some of them we see, and some we don’t.
However, I know this much: while we recover from surgery and open a get-well card from someone who tells us they are praying for us, we see Jesus in them. When someone knocks on our door and asks how we are doing, we see Jesus in them, too. These simple acts, like a kind word or a prayer, show me that Jesus and His Body, the Church, are playing their flutes and singing their dirges for us all day.
I may not realize, and maybe you don’t either, that ‘Her works vindicate the wisdom of God.’ The ‘works’ of God are all those good things we say and do for each other every day, like kindness, patience, and prayer. Sometimes we see them and appreciate them, and sometimes we don’t. But they are still good and still there. God works in His people and saints, whether we are aware of it or not. That’s just how He is, constantly revealing His presence through our actions.
Gospel Challenge:
I pray with the blind man, “Lord, that I may see You clearly in all the events and people in my life,” helping us feel more connected and attentive to God’s presence in our daily experiences.
