A New Car, Sweet. A New House Is Awesome.
How About A New Approach?
Anyone who buys a new car notices the “new car smell,” but it only lasts a short time. Even the new feeling wears off. Religion can become ho-hum as well.
Jesus sensed that God’s people had fallen into a routine, losing the vibrant connection they once had with God. But there’s always hope for rekindling that relationship. For many, rituals became just a habit, something they went through without much thought. However, with a fresh perspective, these rituals can truly become a beautiful source of renewal and personal growth.
Jesus came to breathe new life, His life, into everything we do to stay close to God and each other. For example, he told us that no one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth onto an old cloth.
The new will tear away from the old, and the tear will worsen. Did you or anyone you know have a joint replacement? You must remove the old one to insert the new one.
Relationships, including marriages, need a shot in the arm from time to time. What used to work no longer does. So, what makes a “new cloth old?” Our human love has limitations, like a car or a house. Things created wear out.
Let’s not give up if our relationship with someone is wearing thin. Embrace change, and don’t be afraid to try something new. Do your family relationships need a boost? What can you do differently at meals to stimulate conversation so you get to know each other that day? Also, pray the decade of the Rosary with your family, or share a Scripture passage. Change can bring new life to our relationships.
Gospel Challenge:
How about the Lord? Try praying with your heart, not just your head, when you come into the Lord’s presence. Sharing your true feelings and gratitude can make prayer more meaningful and inspiring. A sincere, heartfelt approach can truly transform your spiritual life.
