Matthew reports that the Angel told the women that Jesus had risen from the dead and told them to go and tell the disciples. They are overjoyed that Jesus has risen, but also fearful because they don’t understand what it means. How will his disciples respond?

Now, let’s carefully notice that as they were on their way, Jesus suddenly appeared before them without warning, greeting them with peace and telling them, “Do not be afraid.” His unexpected appearance must have filled them with wonder and awe. He fully understands their dilemma, yet he tells them to report to his brothers that they will see him in Galilee.

What would we say to others about the last few days, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday?

Have we reflected enough about what happened to us as we celebrated the Paschal mystery? What were our feelings as we witnessed Jesus washing the feet of our fellow parishioners through the priest?

What did we feel as our youth acted out the living Stations of the Cross, and we heard the door slam shut to that tomb after they carried His body from the Cross? What did we experience when we heard the stone roll away from the grave on Easter Sunday, just as it is rolled away in our hearts, preventing us from connecting with God and each other?

Before sharing anything with others, two things are essential: first, we reflect on our experiences with Jesus, and second, as we prepare to share, we meet Jesus, who will tell us.

“Do not be afraid! Go and carry the news to my brothers that they are to go to Galilee, where they will see me.”

His words are not a command, but a reassurance that we are not alone in our faith journey.

Gospel Challenge:

Twice, Jesus reminds us that we are never alone when we share our faith and love for Him with others. He will always be with us! Trust Him. You might be surprised.

Love One Another!
