Bay News 9 features a young athlete every week who sets the standard for other athletes. They are driven by a passion that affects everything they do. We may know people like that who challenge us to be our very best.
It takes great sacrifice to meet that challenge. St. John the Apostle welcomed that challenge as he stood under the Cross of Jesus and repented from his sins. He saw how much they caused Jesus to suffer. Oh, what freedom to have your souls washed clean by the Blood of Christ.
Three days later, John ran to the tomb of Jesus, and when he looked in, he saw, and he believed Jesus rose from the dead. It takes courage to see ourselves as Jesus sees us from His Cross. But what a reward! John found his purpose in life after suffering with Jesus in his heart, and he had no fear of telling others what Jesus could do for them.
What drives you in life? What is your purpose? St. John had a greater purpose to live for than his human life and all its accomplishments. Seek and find God’s purpose for you. It starts with sorrow and is found in seeing. St. John set the standard for us to be our best. Let’s follow it.
