Oscar Rodriguez is a fan of the Rock, Dwayne Johnson, actor and former professional wrestler. Taking care of his 75-year-old mother, Oscar, among other things, has a passion for taking care of domestic violence victims. Cut to the chase: Dwayne Johnson gave Oscar his custom-made truck, and it caught Oscar so much by surprise that he bent over and started crying like a baby.
Watching this clip online made me think we all have this goodness in our hearts, waiting to be tapped.
Another gentleman, a centurion, did the same to Jesus. In his helplessness to save his servant from dying, he told Jesus not to enter his house. Just say the word, and his servant will be healed. “When Jesus heard this, He was amazed.” He never saw such faith even in His own people.
Jesus doesn’t need a truck to amaze Him. But there is something, an awe-inspiring goodness in me and you, that will blow Him away. It may be a leap of faith, trust in Jesus, and a generous act of kindness.
Would you happen to know what that is? If not, keep searching. Jesus is waiting. When you and Jesus sort this out, you will be amazed.
This little prayer is a good start: “O Jesus, I surrender myself to you. You take care of everything.”
