Father Rick’s Gospel Reflection for Thursday, 32nd Week in Ordinary Time, November 10, 2022
Luke 17:20-25 https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/111022.cfm Please take a moment to read and pray over the gospel.
No Greater Love.
Recently I saw the movie about Mother Teresa of Calcutta, No Greater Love. Many times, she brought tears to my eyes. Christ was so present in her you couldn’t see Mother anymore. Indeed, the Kingdom of God came in Mother Teresa.
Jesus told us in the gospel that we cannot observe His Kingdom like we do a place or an event. The qualities of God’s Kingdom are within a person who loves others more than themselves.
You can’t observe love, but you can experience love in your heart. You can’t see with your eyes mercy, but you know when someone has forgiven you. Joy and peace, faithfulness as well, all of these fruits of the Holy Spirit, God’s love in us, are experienced when we love, show mercy, and turn the other cheek.
Think about the moments God called us to sacrifice for someone lacking material goods or spiritually poor. Please think of the times we have chosen to be humble and take the last seat or the times we have decided to be honest with ourselves or someone else rather than deceitful. God’s Kingdom is truly within us.
Gospel Challenge: God will be with us whenever we love others more than ourselves. Where will God reign in you today? There is no greater love than God within us.
