Many people like to go for walks. We have the Pinellas Trail a couple of blocks away from our Church. Every few minutes, someone is either going or coming from the trail. What are they thinking? Some may be listening to their iPods, and others may be praying. What would you do if you went to the trail for a walk?
I like how Jesus took the blind man for a walk in today’s gospel. Notice how he took the man by the hand. More than being away from the crowd, Jesus wanted to get to know the man personally. He needed some time so that when he healed the man of his blindness, he could remain in his life long after they departed.
Gospel Challenge:
Jesus needs time with you and me. If you are praying for something or someone, let Jesus take you by the hand, away from everyone and everything. Enter into the quietness of your heart. In that deserted place, tell Jesus a little about yourself that day. Then, share what you are feeling and think about the intention you carry in your heart. Now it will be in Jesus’ heart for Him to manage. Leave it with Jesus. Don’t be alarmed if he uses something strange like His saliva and dirt to answer your prayer. Sometimes, the stranger it is to us, the better it’s going to be.
