You Can’t Rush A Good Steak

Sometimes, I walk into the house and find someone cooking, and suddenly, I feel an
irresistible craving to eat. Those hunger pangs just seem to appear out of nowhere! It’s
the same when I catch the delicious aroma of a steak on the grill. I believe we all share
these little moments. Good things, like a great steak or a meaningful relationship with
Jesus and others, can’t be rushed. Patience makes everything taste even better,
reminding us to trust in God’s perfect timing for our lives.
The Pharisees are once again facing Jesus, this time asking Him for a sign to prove He
is truly God. It seems unlikely they would believe in Jesus even if He performed a
miracle right before their eyes. A sign is something observable and tangible, but Jesus
patiently waits for the perfect moment to touch their hearts and help them believe, just
as He did with Nicodemus, the Pharisee. These guys just don’t seem to get it—faith isn’t
about figuring things out or proving them with signs. It’s about a heartfelt relationship
that goes beyond just visible proof.
Building a relationship takes time, just like cooking a perfect steak—you can’t rush it. If
a young man asks his girlfriend to marry him before she’s truly ready, he might end up
feeling disappointed. No matter how much he wants to marry her, patience is key, and
waiting for the right moment is what truly matters.
The same is true for someone growing closer in faith to the Lord. We understand that
this kind of relationship can’t be hurried. Jesus patiently waits for the perfect moment
when their heart is ready to respond to His call. Remember when He told the disciples
that many are called, but only a few are chosen. We might call out to them all day and
night, but Jesus knows exactly when to choose someone to be His friend and future
disciple. Deepening our faith requires patience and trust in His timing.

Gospel Challenge:
Let’s do our best to be a genuine friend to those on their spiritual journey. By showing
them love and care every day, we can give them countless reasons to follow Jesus. Our
active support and patience can help others grow in faith and deepen their relationship
with Christ, making a meaningful difference in their lives!
The moment will come, and the taste of Jesus in Holy Communion will last forever.
Remember, not everyone likes their steak rare.
