Growing up, I loved to fish with my Dad. What mattered most to me was how many fish we caught and their size. June and July were called the “dog days” because fish were stubborn and wouldn’t bite. Those days with Dad were so disappointing. It wasn’t really about fishing. Now I realize I missed the most important thing during those “dog days” – being fully present with my Dad. I treasure our time together – the chatter, the excitement of catching fish, and the disappointment when we didn’t. Similarly, we might miss out on precious moments with Jesus, which could be filled with His love and grace if we choose to be present with Him. Jesus performed his signs and wonders out of compassion for those who were suffering. Some people took his love for granted, which makes it hard not to feel His disappointment when He said, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” I understand that the word “believe” means the friendship Jesus desires with us. His compassion and healing are always available, offering hope and reassurance to everyone seeking Him. Gospel Challenge: Jesus healed the man’s son after he passionately pleaded, ‘Sir, come down before my child dies!’ What specific heartfelt request are you waiting to share with Jesus? Let’s have no more “dog days” with Jesus and waste golden opportunities to be His friend. Seize every moment to deepen your relationship with Him and experience His love more fully. Love Your Neighbor: May the peace of the Lord be with you always, comforting you in times of trouble and guiding you on your spiritual journey. Fr. Rick Pilger, IC www.bscchurch.com

No More Dog Days with Jesus
Growing up, I loved to fish with my Dad. What mattered most to me was how many fish we
caught and their size. June and July were called the “dog days” because fish were stubborn and
wouldn’t bite. Those days with Dad were so disappointing. It wasn’t really about fishing.
Now I realize I missed the most important thing during those “dog days” – being fully present
with my Dad. I treasure our time together – the chatter, the excitement of catching fish, and the
disappointment when we didn’t. Similarly, we might miss out on precious moments with Jesus,
which could be filled with His love and grace if we choose to be present with Him.
Jesus performed his signs and wonders out of compassion for those who were suffering. Some
people took his love for granted, which makes it hard not to feel His disappointment when He
said, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” I understand that the word
“believe” means the friendship Jesus desires with us. His compassion and healing are always
available, offering hope and reassurance to everyone seeking Him.
Gospel Challenge:
Jesus healed the man’s son after he passionately pleaded, ‘Sir, come down before my child dies!’
What specific heartfelt request are you waiting to share with Jesus?
Let’s have no more “dog days” with Jesus and waste golden opportunities to be His friend. Seize
every moment to deepen your relationship with Him and experience His love more fully.
Love Your Neighbor:
May the peace of the Lord be with you always, comforting you in times of trouble and guiding
you on your spiritual journey.
