NEVER HUNGER. HOW IS THAT?

A few years ago, a local restaurant donated turkeys for our parishioners to feed people in Pinellas Hope on Thanksgiving Day. Somewhere around 150 people had a wonderful cooked dinner.

Every night on local newscasts, churches and organizations collect food and give it to families, especially during Christmas. Our s inchool children have a bake sale this Sunday to raise funds to buy gifts so many children will have a lovely Christmas.  

Americans have generous hearts that won’t quit. Unfortunately, the bread will run out, the socks will get holes, and we will be back at it again, cooking and handing out more food and socks. Hunger for the bread of this world never satisfies.

Every day in prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, a fire burns in my heart for people who have given up receiving Jesus in Holy Communion every week.

Whatever their reasons, the love in my heart for them keeps the Fire burning. It’s the hunger Jesus has in His heart to heal all our hurts and feed us with Bread that always satisfies. 

“My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,” He tells us in the gospel. “I do not want to send them away hungry for fear they may collapse on the way.” Carry these words of Jesus in your heart today, “I do not want to send them away hungry.”

Where are you hungry that the bread this world never satisfies but only makes you hungrier? Come to Jesus, the Bread of your Life that always satisfies. Discover how generous Jesus can be.
